Databases
BrainPop offers educational and interactive online activities that span six main subjects including science, math, language arts, social studies, health and technology. BrainPOP requires a username and password, which you can get from your library information teacher or from the Home Access Passwords page. Content which requires a subscription is available only during school hours, but there are many activities that are free.
PebbleGo contains both animal and earth science databases designed specifically for emergent readers and researchers. It features many articles correlated to life and earth science standards, audio and video, carefully leveled text, educational games, and innovative read-aloud capabilities. Web access from school or home makes PebbleGo an ideal resource. PebbleGo features easy-to-use searching tools, and introduces early learners to database and research concepts.
Barrington 220's NEWEST elementary science database, PowerKids Life Science includes key life science topics including animals, classification, endangered and extinct species, food chains and food webs, green living, habitats and ecosystems, the human body, life cycles, plants, survival and adaptation. 400+ articles, dynamic videos, interactive games, hands-on projects, experiments and activities.
A digital library of e-books for kids, TumbleBooks is an online collection of animated, talking picture books which teach young children the joys of reading in a format they'll love.
